Fish Painting!

First graders at Wood End and Birch Meadow learned about how to mix primary colors to make secondary colors.  We reviewed the color wheel and how to mix new colors using primary colors (previously we made a Model Magic color wheel. see a previous post here )
We started out by drawing an underwater scene with six fish.  We drew 3 large fish and three small fish and outlined them with black sharpie.  Each of the large fish were painted with a primary color.  once they were painted, the small fish were painted with secondary colors.  The first graders learned how to mix two primary colors to create a secondary color.  Once they were finished painting all of their fish, they painted a background ocean mixing white with light blue.  When the paintings were dry, they went back over their work with black sharpie.
