Figures in Action! by Grade 5

Fifth graders at Birch Meadow School studied artist Alberto Giacometti.   We began by working with a partner to create a gesture drawing.  A gesture drawing is a quick drawing meant to capture the movement or essence of a figure or object.  We then chose our favorite drawing to create into a 3-D sculpture.  We used tin foil to create the sculpture.  Here are the results:
